Baton Rouge Economic Growth Update

The Baton Rouge Chamber recently release an in-depth look at job growth in Louisiana through 2024 and their projections show that the Baton Rouge region will grow 2X as fast as another region in the State! It's really quite remarkable that our region - which represents about 23% of the population of the state will account for almost 1/3 (31.3%) of the job growth in the next year or so. The Baton Rouge area is projected to add over 18,000 of the 58,000 jobs expected to be created in the state between 2022 & 2024. A by-product of this sustained job growth in our region is further reflected in a number of regional parishes showing spiking middle-class income growth and declining poverty rates.

In addition, our region hosts 3 of the top 5 public school districts in the entire state which has helped to drive population growth of 22,000 into the Greater Baton Rouge area over the last 10 years.

This type of job and population growth is what continues to drive our rather robust housing market. We need more houses to support this type of population growth and while builders are stepping up, its not enough to fully accomodate our growth.
